Sunda Colugo (Galeopterus variegatus)

Sunda colugos, also known as Sunda flying lemurs, are not actually lemurs; they are, however, a close relative of the primates. They hail from the forests of Southeast Asia where they glide up across the canopies at night to forage for leaves. They are masterful climbers, capable of shooting up and down trees, but on the ground they can only be described as awkward and helpless. During the day, they hang from branches and allow their young to rest within their wing flaps like a hammock. They are known to be territorial regarding these sleeping areas as they prefer to spend the day resting in an area that is safest from predators.
